Who is Mikey?

 

 

Hello! My name is Michael McGivern, but I prefer Mikey. Outside of work, I enjoy learning new things and expanding my skill set. I like photography and playing video games. 

 

I have a strong work ethic with every role I am put into. I enjoy the fast-paced environment. I love the rush of being on the line. I am someone who is reliable, trustworthy, and always ready to give my 100% to the team. I am the type of person who is the first to show up and the last to leave to make sure the kitchen, dish pit, and server section stay up to standards. In the kitchen, we are a team, and we should all be helping to maintain it with communication and collaboration.

Current School?

I currently go to Durham College in Whitby as a full time student. I am in my second year of culinary school. 

Current Job?

I work at Parkland Retirement Home in Ajax. I’ve been working at that location for 3 years now, starting as a dishwasher, server, and now a cold side cook. As the youngest in the kitchen, I don't know everything, but I strive to improve myself in the kitchen every day. 

my Everyday Goal & Future Goal

My future goal is to own two houses. I am going to accomplish this goal by working hard, well, I am young, and making smart financial decisions, and my everyday goal is to make others smile with the food I create. 

Challenges I face daily

I have severe ADHD, a learning disability, and bilateral hearing loss. I have learned not to find these as weaknesses but to use them as strengths.
